Community guidelines
Effective 10 September 2026. These are the rules for what can be on Cohlta. They apply to videos, stories, comments, messages, profile photos, names and bios. The terms of service say what happens when they are broken.
What Cohlta is for
Real footage of real places: the street outside, the market, the match, the protest, the storm, the strike. We carry news and reporting, including from places where hard things are happening, and we would rather show you the world than sanitise it. Where a clip shows injury or blood, we put it behind a warning you can choose to tap through.
Never allowed
- Sexual content. Pornography, sexual activity, sexual nudity, and any sexual content involving minors, which we report to the authorities.
- Extreme violence. Dismemberment, executions, torture, close-up detailed corpses, and content that celebrates violence or is produced by those who commit it.
- Hate. Slurs, dehumanising content, and threats against people or groups, however the words are spelled.
- Harassment. Targeted abuse, doxxing, and telling anyone to harm themselves.
- Spam and scams. Floods of posts or comments, deceptive schemes, and links to sites that host the material above.
- Other people's rights. Content you do not have the right to post, and other people's private information.
Allowed, sometimes behind a warning
- Conflict reporting: strikes on vehicles, equipment or buildings, and the aftermath, with no visible casualty, publishes normally.
- Footage with visible injury or blood, in news or otherwise, is shown behind a warning.
- Protests, accidents, police activity, and the ordinary rough edges of city life.
- Strong language and strong opinions.
What we do
Our systems check every upload before other people see it, and check comments, photos, names and bios too. They cover graphic content, remove what is never allowed, and hand their decisions to a person who confirms or reverses them. You can report anything, block anyone, and appeal any decision about your own content from Settings, then Content Status. Accounts that post what is never allowed are removed.
